E&B engelhardt und bauer is the winner of the B:Efficient Award 2012 and is allowed to call itself the most sustainable company in the technology-region Karlsruhe.
The Print- and publishing GmbH with the slogan “Communication with IQ” convinced with its integral concept. The B:Efficient Award which was handed over for the first time, is not only a “green” award, but focuses the combination of sustainability, efficiency and responsible acting.
Ground probes, heat storages and the cooling-system as parts of the energy-concept of the printhouse in Karlsruhe realize a pleasant working atmosphere with resource-conservation. By redeveloping the main complex located at Käppelestraße, E&B attained a reduction of the heat demand by 60%, the heating costs dropped to 50%. E&B uses paper from sustainable forestry. Bio inks, as well as climate-neutral printing, are used for the quality production for industry-clients, artists, agencies, designers and publishing houses. E&B has an eye on the future when it comes to the employees: at the E&B academy colleagues are trained by colleagues, which guarantees that everyone can keep up with the progress. Many regional projects benefit from E&B’s love to art and culture without any economical interest in the foreground.
About overall 15 companies of the technology region faced the assessment. Dr. Peter Fritz, vice-president of the Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT), Dr. Florian Feigs, project-manager at the global centre of sustainability from BASF, as well as three representatives of the economic-youth Karlsruhe were the jury members that selected the three winners.
